Deanna Dubie, Certified Doula

My name is Deanna and I’m a Doula. I was with a pregnant friend years ago and the more time we were together, the closer we became and the more she wanted me around to help her through her pregnancy. When she went into labour I was the second person she called. The hours flew by and the baby was inching her way into the world. Finally after six hours, with her boyfriend holding one leg and me holding the other, both of us encouraging her to push just one more time, her beautiful daughter came into the world. From that moment on I KNEW that this was something I was made to do; it was a part of my life that I had to expand on.

I wish I had known more about Doulas when I had my son a few years after this amazing experience, because I would have loved to have had a Doula comforting me, encouraging me, and making my baby’s journey into my life that much more relaxing.

I know how important it is to have support and encouragement through the labour and delivery of a baby and now, as a certified Doula, I am happy to be able to provide service to other mothers.
